When should you replace your mailbox lock?

  1. Your key is lost or broken.
  2. Other people have a key.
  3. The lock is worn or sticks.
  4. Dirt or foreign objects are inside the lock.
  5. The lock has been forced or broken.

Choosing a mailbox lock

There are several types of mailbox locks. We install all of them.

  • Cam lock: the most common type. Turning the key rotates a cam that secures the door.
  • Pin tumbler lock: uses conventional cylinder pins and offers slightly greater security than a wafer lock.
  • Tubular cylinder lock: uses a round key profile, often found on vending machines and mailboxes.
  • Disc detainer lock: offers strong resistance to manipulation for more demanding applications.
  • Combination lock: uses number dials or push buttons, so no key is needed.
  • Utility lock: provides service or maintenance access and is not intended for high-security use.
