Lock installation

A correctly installed lock is the foundation of a secure home. A reliable, smoothly operating lock protects your property and, above all, the people who live there. Whether you want to replace an old or broken lock, upgrade your door security or have everything checked after a break-in, Slotenmaker België guides you from advice to installation. We arrive promptly, measure the door and hardware carefully, and help you choose the right lock and cylinder. You receive a modern, reliable, burglary-resistant solution suited to your door, everyday use and budget, neatly installed and correctly adjusted.

When do you need a new lock?

01
Lost or stolen keys

If your keys are lost or stolen, you cannot know who may find them. Replace the cylinder promptly with a security cylinder and ownership certificate, making all old keys unusable.

02
Poor security

Standard cylinders without protection against pulling, drilling or snapping can be forced relatively quickly. Upgrade to an SKG*** security cylinder with matching security hardware and, where appropriate, a multipoint lock to increase resistance and limit damage during an attempted break-in.

03
Moving home

When you move into a new home, you do not know who still has keys: previous owners, contractors, estate agents or cleaners. Replace the cylinders, register the new key codes and decide exactly who may enter, where and when.

04
Burglary or attempted burglary

After a burglary or attempted break-in, the lock may be damaged or tampered with internally even if it still appears to work. Replace the cylinder and hardware, have the door adjusted, and upgrade to a multipoint lock and pull protection where needed.

05
Wear or sticking

If the key is difficult to turn, the latch sticks or the cylinder jams, this can be a warning of a complete blockage or a broken key. Replace worn components in time to avoid being unexpectedly locked out.

06
Unknown key copies

If you have lost track of who has a key, such as former cleaners, subcontractors, neighbours or people with unauthorised copies, replace the cylinder with a security cylinder and ownership certificate. Controlled, traceable duplication restores control over access.

Which lock is right for your door?

Many people are unsure of the difference between a lock case and a cylinder. If you want new keys, replacing only the cylinder is often enough. The complete lock does not always need to be removed.

A common weakness in burglary prevention in Belgium is combining a standard cylinder with a security lock, such as a multipoint lock. Although the lock itself may be strong, the cylinder remains the weakest point. Your security is only as strong as its weakest component.

We therefore recommend a security cylinder combined with the right lock and security hardware, so your door delivers the protection you expect.

Where useful, we also recommend access control, such as a smart cylinder, keypad hardware or a badge or app system. This improves physical protection and gives you greater control over who can enter, when and for how long.
